Brandon Routh to Play Superman in "Crisis on Infinite Earths"

Tyler Hoechlin & Brandon Routh To Suit Up As Superman For Arrowverse Crossover On the CW

It looks like we'll have two Supermans for the CW's next Arrowverse crossover event.

Routh now plays Ray Palmer/The Atom on Legends, but he first broke into Hollywood by playing the Man of Steel in 2006's Superman Returns. But that's not all! According to Deadline, Routh will be playing The Atom in the same crossover event, so it will be interesting to see if they provide a storyline explanation for the similarities.

Brandon Routh's Superman Returns isn't fondly remembered by many, due to some of the weirder plot elements that it tackled but it did have some great moments. "Honored, humbled, grateful, and still pinching myself", he commented.

Routh already plays an Arrowverse character; he's Ray Palmer, AKA the size-changing hero known as the Atom, on Legends of Tomorrow.

Brandon Routh, who now plays Ray Palmer/The Atom on Legends of Tomorrow, will also play Superman during the Arrowverse crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths. And now, this year's event is set to bring not one, but two Supermen into battle. No, instead Routh will play both Ray and a Clark Kent/Superman from a different universe.

Boxing champion dies after being hit by vehicle
The people in his hometown would chant "Sweet Pete", and a local sportswriter misinterpreted it to "Sweet Pea," but it stuck. The talented boxer received the draw in a match versus who he hailed as the best boxer in the world, Julio Cesar Chavez.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" is based on the DC Comics miniseries in 1985 and 1986 that explored the idea of multiple incarnations of Superman.

Some San Diego Comic-Con news has leaked early. Instead of going ahead with a planned sequel, Warner Bros. handed the Superman series to Batman auteur Christopher Nolan, who produced Man of Steel in 2013.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" will debut on The CW starting in December, then continue in January 2020.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" will include The CW's DC Comics shows - Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman.

The Monitor collected Oliver (Stephen Amell) in the Arrow Season 7 finale to fulfill the deal he made to save Barry (Grant Gustin) and Kara (Melissa Benoist) in the previous crossover.
