R. Kelly Pleads Not Guilty, Denied Bail in NY Federal Case

R. Kelly

In a letter to federal Magistrate Judge Steven Tiscione, obtained by The Blast, Anton writes, "I have not been able to see my client yet to intelligently discuss with him what is to transpire tomorrow, which is something I must be able to do". The indictment alleges Kelly required the victims to call him "Daddy", to wear baggy clothing and to keep their heads down and not look at other men.

In February, Kelly pleaded not guilty to IL state charges - 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four alleged victims, including three who prosecutors say were underage girls.

R. Kelly has been denied bail.

The star's not guilty plea follows a previous plea entered by the star in which he denied 13 alleged sex trafficking charges. He had been transported on a plane from Chicago to New York City but when he landed, his attorney was not informed of his whereabouts and said he had "vanished."

The jailed Kelly appeared for scheduled back-to-back hearings in federal court in Brooklyn, where he was ordered held without bail, reports CBS New York.

For two decades R. Kelly, real name Robert Kelly, has been accused of different sexual abuse allegations.

Jury: Katy Perry Copied Christian Rap Song On 'Dark Horse'
U.S. singer Katy Perry copied the beat of her 2013 hit Dark Horse from a Christian rap song, a Los Angeles jury found yesterday. The 34-year-old songstress released Dark Horse , which featured rapper Juicy J , in late 2013 from her album Prism .

In the NY indictment, Kelly is accused of running a racketeering enterprise comprised of "managers, bodyguards, drivers, personal assistants and runners for the defendant, as well as members of his entourage", who would allegedly recruit young women for sex with the musician.

Kelly's defense attorneys requested his release so he could better fight charges they have dismissed as "groupie remorse".

They also accuse him of conspiracy to obstruct justice by destroying evidence and bribing or threatening witnesses.

The papers allege that Kelly arranged for some of the victims to meet him on the road for illegal sex.

He's charged with racketeering, kidnapping and sexual exploitation of a child, and faces similar charges in a Chicago case. He faces 18 total counts between Chicago and NY. Four of the 5 counts against Kelly are violations of the Mann Act. The charges - a class 2 felony - span from 1998 to 2010.

The documentary series "Surviving R. Kelly" that aired on Lifetime revived public interest in the case against Kelly.
