Weekend washout as Met Office issue yellow weather warning for thunderstorms

Warnings are in place today

Met Office meteorologist, Sarah Kent, said: "On Wednesday night, there is still some thunder over Scotland, but throughout the night, any heavy showers should be dropping away for most".

Devon and Cornwall Police have issued a travel warning with forecasters saying the wind and rain could see roads closed, buildings flood, trees brought down and buildings damaged.

"Through Thursday morning we continue to see those showers develop over Scotland".

Heavy rain and strong winds have been forecast for West Norfolk this week.

The low air pressure moving in from the Atlantic ocean is expected to stay with the United Kingdom into the weekend and bring with it wet weather conditions.

"A band of heavy rain, with the possibility of some very heavy bursts, will move northwards during Thursday night and Friday", reads the warning on the Met Office website.

Democrats target Donald Trump rhetoric after deadly mass shootings
Earlier Sunday, Trump tweeted, "God bless the people of El Paso Texas". Trump ordered flags at half-staff in honor of the victims. The gunman was shot to death by responding officers.

The Met Office has issued a yellow status severe weather warning of rain for Northern Ireland.

"Despite a continuation of the expected and unsettled pattern through the coming weeks, it will continue to be warm and quite humid at times with potentially heavy and widespread thundery showers", said Madden.

A yellow "be aware" weather warning is in place across all of Wales and Northern Ireland, and most of England and Scotland, as some places could receive more than two inches of rain.

"Strong winds across England and Wales with gusts up to 50mph".

"However, the low air will track towards Scandinavia on Sunday so it is looking like a quieter day".

"In a few places thunderstorms may also be accompanied by frequent lightning, hail and gusty winds".
