Isle of Man MMR vaccination rate lower than UK's

Prime Minister Boris Johnson visits the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro

Measles, which is nearly entirely preventable with two doses of vaccine, is making a comeback globally.

The WHO said in the first six months of 2019 reported measles cases globally were nearly three times as many as the same time past year. He also said people would be encouraged to have catch-up vaccinations.

Professor Stephen Powis, NHS England's medical director, said: "People not getting the vaccines they need is leading to a killer disease like measles unnecessarily becoming a health risk for our country again, with the number of cases nearly quadrupling in just one year".

"After a period of progress where we were once able to declare Britain measles-free, we've now seen hundreds of cases of measles in the United Kingdom this year".

The World Health Organization said this month measles cases worldwide have grown to their highest point since 2006.

Social media companies will be invited to a summit to explore how they can better promote accurate vaccination information.

Britons should get vaccinated against measles and ignore online "mumbo-jumbo" about dangers of the jabs, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said today after a resurgence of the disease.

Social media giants have been accused of failing to crack down on anti-vaxxers by a health minister.

The figures have prompted a call for parents to check their child's "Red Book" to ensure they are up-to-date with scheduled immunisations.

Boris Johnson will visit a hospital in the South West and lay out a number of measures created to improve vaccination rates, including for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR).

USA gives Huawei another 90 days to serve existing customers
The company spent $15 billion previous year on research and development, more than Apple Inc. or Microsoft Corp. The directive went into effect May 16th, 2019 and all USA companies working with Huawei had to comply.

Dr Shylaja Thomas, consultant in public health medicine and lead for screening and immunisation at Public Health England, East of England, said: "It's a real concern that so many young children in our region could be starting school without the full protection that the NHS childhood immunisation programme offers for free".

The rate of children having done so is now only 87.2 per cent, down from a high of 88.6 per cent in 2014-15.

A blog published on August 19, 2019, reviewed the reasons for the WHO's change in the UK's status, and ongoing efforts to protect the British population from the measles virus.

Last night, Boris Johnson pledged a "decisive" response to tackling the spread of misinformation by the "antivaxx" movement to bring back Britain's "measles-free" status.

However, in 2018, there was a marked increase in the number of confirmed measles cases, with 991 confirmed cases in England and Wales, compared with 284 cases in 2017.

Before a vaccine was introduced, the United Kingdom used to see hundreds of thousands of cases and 100 or more deaths each year.

However, as the rise of measles continues to circulate across countries, more needs to be done.

"Losing our "measles-free" status is a stark reminder of how important it is that every eligible person gets vaccinated", Mary Ramsey, head of immunization at Public Health England, said.

A vial of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine is pictured at a clinic in Seattle, Washington, US on March 20, 2019. Helen Stokes-Lampard, chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners. So-called "no jab, no school" policies have been introduced in several nations around the world and have shown promising results in increasing the number of vaccinated children.

Numerous studies have dismissed claims that measles vaccinations cause or trigger autism.
