A Windows 10 update is causing pain and anguish around the world

Microsoft acknowledged the bug a few hours ago

But "the reports appear to have been ignored because they weren't upvoted enough", Windows Latest says. There they may want to sort the process listing with a click on the CPU header to bring the processes with the highest CPU load to the top of the listing. We contacted the Windows giant for more information and will update if there is an explanation.

To fix this, Windows 10 users have three options; enable BingSearch, replace Cortana Cache folder with an older version, or uninstall the update. The Windows 10 users took to Reddit and revealed that Cortana has been consuming 40 percent of the CPU.

Some Windows 10 users are experiencing alarming CPU spikes following last week's optional cumulative update.

One of the remarkable strengths of Windows 10 is how it embraces the ability to work well on both a tablet and standard desktop and the reason why it is the OS of choice for all 2-in-1 machines.

We can imagine the Windows team dusting itself down and then toddling off for what it felt was a well-earned Labor Day weekend (in the USA at least.) At the time of writing, the support page for the patch smugly asserts "Microsoft is not now aware of any issues with this update". The Start Menu search is not working on affected systems which is a serious issue.

Most lung disease patients vaped THC products
Additional reports of pulmonary illness are also under investigation. State-specific epidemiologic investigations are ongoing.

The incident is not the first on Windows 10.

The reason seems to be that the users have disabled the search through Bing.

Microsoft has not acknowledged the issue on the official support page for the update.

Other users resolved the ongoing problems by deleting their registry key.

Luckily, there are few workarounds available that you can use to fix this issue. Continue to Reg Name: BingSearchEnabled and Reg Value: 0. To do so, open up Settings (WIN + I), select Update & Security, hit View update history, hit Uninstall updates and select KB4512941 to rid of it.
