Many detest Michigan's flavored vaping ban while others commend the surprising ruling

Michigan Vaping Ban - First State to ban Sale And Distribution Of Flavored E-Cigarettes

MI on Wednesday became the first state in the country to ban flavored e-cigarettes, as concerns continue to grow over the potential dangers of vaping.

"And right now, companies selling vaping products are using candy flavours to hook children on nicotine and misleading claims to promote the belief that these products are safe".

Flavored nicotine vaping products - which include tastes akin to apple juice, bubble gum and Nerds candy - will be banned in retail stores and online in the state.

"As governor, my number one priority is keeping our kids safe", Whitmer said in the statement.

The Governor was able to issue the emergency rules because the MDHHS has issued e-cigarette smoking a public health crisis.

The state Department of Health and Human Services, in finding that youth vaping is a public health emergency, cited studies showing that vaping products contain a variety of chemicals and metal particles whose long-term health impact is unknown. The federal government and almost every state, including MI, bar the sale of e-cigarettes to minors.

In June, San Francisco's board of supervisors unanimously voted to make the city the first in the U.S. to effectively ban e-cigarette sales. The governor also ordered the Michigan Department of Transportation to enforce an existing statute to prohibit the advertising of vapor products on billboards.

Ashes 2019: Hazlewood Aiming to Play Full Part in Remaining Test Matches
On Day Four of the Lord's Test, Smith retired hurt on 80 after being hit on the neck by a 92.4 miles per hour delivery from Archer.

"This shameless attempt at backdoor prohibition will close down several hundred MI small businesses and could send tens of thousands of ex-smokers back to deadly combustible cigarettes", said Gregory Conley, president of the American Vaping Association.

Nancy Brown, chief executive of the American Heart Association, called the measure a "bold and appropriate" response "to the epidemic of youth e-cigarette use", noting the recent outbreak in illnesses associated with e-cigarettes.

At that point, the ban will last six months and will give MI businesses 30 days to comply.

"It's on the states to take action, and as governor I am going to do it unilaterally until I can get the legislature to adopt it and write it into law", the governor said.

More than 3.6 million kids reported using e-cigarettes in 2018, according to the FDA.

The American Vaping Association says the "shameless attempt at backdoor prohibition" could send thousands of ex-smokers back to deadly cigarettes.
