Here's what the new Apple Watch Series 5 looks like

Apple Watch

Now, it's getting an update. Alongside, Apple also unveiled the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and a new 10.2-inch iPad.

Turns out, they did - though the differences are fairly small. The company has also improved emergency calling in its LTE models, which will now allow users to call emergency services in over 100 countries even without an iPhone. Raise or tap your wrist and the watch's display will increase to full brightness.

Most of the time, that's a casual "oh, I shall check the time" movement. The new Apple Watch also comes with a number of display tech that allows it to switch from 60Hz, all the way down to 1Hz.

Other than that, there aren't many major differences between the Series 5 and Series 4. The new Apple Watch comes with an always-on display, an 18-hour battery life, and a built-in compass. There's also a stargazing app that uses the compass to display the precise direction of specific constellations. The Apple Watch Series 5 can be ordered today and will be in stores on September 20. It makes it all feel very intentional and considered.

While the new Noise app helps users detect when they're in an environment that could damage their hearing. Apple says that this year it is offering the widest range of option in Apple Watch. Most importantly you can access Apple Arcade games on all Apple devices including iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Now it's opening up the watch to reputable research institutions with the launch of three new studies.

For more stories, go to It'll still dim the screen when your wrist isn't raised, but now it's possible to check the time without people noticing. It would seem that this would significantly decrease battery life.

Apple's previous heart-focused study canvassed more than 400,000 people in the USA over just eight months, searching for irregular heart rhythms that may be linked to atrial fibrillation by using the smartwatch's pulse rate tracker.

That always-on display means you'll no longer need to raise your wrist to see the time or complications with the Apple Watch Series 5, though the display dims when you're not looking at it - flawless for a discreet glance at the time or for checking your exercise stats when you can't raise your wrist like normal.
