Stop vaping — CDC Warning

Andrew Cuomo

As federal officials investigate a multi-state outbreak of lung illnesses associated with the use of e-cigarette products, the state's public health commissioner is temporarily adding possible cases of vaping-associated pulmonary illnesses to the list of conditions clinicians are required to report to the state.

Health officials said they do not have detailed information on what specific e-cigarette products were used by the deceased Kansas patient.

Public health officials confirmed Tuesday that two people in Idaho have developed a serious lung disease linked to vaping. If you need help quitting tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, contact your doctor or a support quit line.

The director of the Centers for Disease Control tweeted the cases span 33 states and the Virgin Islands with five reported deaths. "State investigators determine if cases are confirmed or probable after examining the medical records of suspected cases and consulting with the clinical care team to exclude other possible cases". Also, people with a history of vaping who are experiencing lung injury symptoms should seek medical care.

People should consider refraining from e-cigarette products while the investigation is ongoing, according to CDC. Most millennials will reason and claim that vaping is "healthy", which is true, when compared with cigarettes.

"This inflated perceived use of e-cigarettes could be contributing to the normalization of vaping". The department has also linked 22 cases of lung illness to vaping, and is investigating another 15. The Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida, which is part of the Department of Health, reported that in 2018, about 25 percent of Florida high school students reported they used vaping devices. And as Boston reported last week, the second-hand exposure of these products isn't any better for young people than second-hand smoke from cigarettes.

Donald Trump says border wall being built 'very rapidly'
A Pentagon official said in a briefing that the department was given a "lawful order" by Trump to divert the funds. Esper said in a letter to congressional leadership that military housing projects will not be affected.

Health officials say the majority of the cases are males in their early to mid twenties that are reporting symptoms of chest pain and vomiting.

Vaping and e-cigarette use has been tied to five deaths in the US, according to federal health officials.

The Australian National Drug Strategy Household Survey reported that 6.4 per cent of young smokers aged 18-24 used e-cigarettes.

One aspect of this, that Persse said the CDC is looking into, is what's in the vaping substances.

Unlike tobacco, which can not be promoted inside stores in Ontario, the provincial government opted to allow e-cigarette companies to promote their products inside convenience stores, as long as they comply with federal laws.
