Robert O'Brien replaces John Bolton as Trump's national security adviser

BREAKING: President Trump Announces a New National Security Advisor

He also served in the Army Reserve Judge Advocate General's Corps.

US President Donald Trump has appointed a new national security adviser - his fourth in two years.

O'Brien, who served as a foreign policy advisor for the failedpresidential campaign of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, then for that of Texas Sen.

In his role as special presidential envoy for hostage affairs, Mr O'Brien works with families of United States hostages and advises on related issues, including recovery policies.

He recently appeared in a Stockholm court on behalf of A$AP Rocky after the rapper was detained in Sweden.

Robert O'Brien has had a long career in foreign policy working for both main U.S. parties and now heads hostage negotiations at the State Department.

The president called his new aide "highly respected" and touted their "good chemistry".

Pakistanis stand behind army to counter Indian aggression: FM Qureshi
He said there is no precedent in country's history to put the mega corrupt elements into jails like it happened now. India and Pakistan both hold Kashmir in parts and claim it in full.

He's a trial lawyer from California who worked in both the Bush administration and Obama administration. In 2005, he was nominated and confirmed to be the US alternate representative to the United Nations, while Bolton was USA ambassador to the United Nations.

O'Brien served under President George W. Bush as a USA alternate delegate to the United Nations in 2005, in which he emphasized America's commitment towards solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He has also worked for former secretaries of state Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton. Trump also called himself the greatest hostage negotiator in an April tweet. Pompeo, after having almost no relationship with the president during the campaign three years ago, now stands astride American foreign policy as a Kissingerian figure, by far the president's most influential advisor, save maybe his family.

'I offered to resign last night and President Trump said, 'Let's talk about it tomorrow, ' Bolton tweeted last week - and has left his Twitter page titled @AmbJohnBolton blank ever since. Given Trump's promise on Wednesday to "substantially increase" sanctions on Tehran, O'Brien's hiring likely signals no thaw in relations with the Islamic Republic.

While there are loud voices in Washington calling for the bombing of Iran following the Saudi oil facility strikes, Trump´s instinct so far has been to resist expanding U.S. foreign military entanglements. Working for Secretary Pompeo, O'Brien leads the U.S. Government's diplomatic efforts on overseas hostage-related matters.

"Iran, either directly or through Hezbollah or its other proxies, has kidnapped American diplomats, hikers, students, tourists, naturalized United States citizens visiting their families in Iran, businessmen, and sailors".

At the Los Angeles airport Wednesday afternoon, Trump brought O'Brien over to meet reporters.
