Flooding in Texas Leaves at Least 2 Dead Parts of Houston under Water

Storm-ravaged southeast Texas is reeling from days of relentless rain and dramatic flooding not seen since Hurricane Harvey.

Imelda's rains have largely left Houston, but the city and the surrounding region are reeling from the fallout. At least two deaths are blamed on the storm.

The Houston Fire Department says its crews performed more than 900 water rescues on Thursday and were dispatched to almost 1,800 emergency calls.

Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott declared a state of disaster Thursday for 13 counties.

The flight tracking service FlightAware reported almost 700 flights canceled Thursday at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, with more than 200 other flights delayed.

Most of the rain from Imelda will combine with a cold front in the Midwest and bring heavy rain there, with up to 1 inch of rain forecast around Houston in the next 24 hours and into the weekend.

The same areas that were devastated by Hurricane Harvey's rainfall two years ago are seeing more catastrophic flooding.

A second man was electrocuted and drowned while trying to move his horse, according to a message from the family of the 19-year-old victim, Hunter Morrison, that was shared by the Jefferson County's Sheriff's Office.

The storm is expected to drift North throughout the day on Friday.
