Democrats subpoena Pentagon, OMB in Ukraine probe

Sen. Mitt Romney speaks with reporters on May 21 on Capitol Hill

- Amid reports from the New York Times and others that a second whistle-blower, with direct knowledge of the Ukraine phone call, has been interviewed by the intelligence community inspector general, lawyers for the first whistle-blower confirmed on Twitter Sunday that they were representing "multiple" individuals.

The telephone call and the whistleblower complaint filed in August prompted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to launch impeachment proceedings against Trump on September 24, saying his actions jeopardized USA election integrity and threatened national security.

Mark Zaid told The Associated Press news agency in a text message on Sunday that the second whistle-blower, who also works in intelligence, has spoken to the intelligence community's internal watchdog.

The investigation also included looking at his son Hunter Biden, who served as a director on a Ukrainian energy company.

Three congressional committees are investigating Trump in the impeachment probe related to a July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

ABC first reported Zaid's representation of the second person.

The committee chairman last week subpoenaed the White House for communications with Ukraine, including notes and transcripts from the president's calls with Volodymyr Zelensky since his counterpart's April election. "He's always going after Nancy Pelosi, going after Chuck Schumer or going after Adam Schiff, it seems to me his greatest challenge doesn't come from Democrats, it comes from White House insiders who have simply had enough".

Mr Himes said: "The president's real problem is that his behaviour has finally gotten to a place where people are saying: 'Enough'".

The impeachment investigation could lead to the approval by the House of formal charges against Trump.

He was labeled "was one of the administration's 'three amigos' on Ukrainian policy, along with Kurt Volker, the USA special representative for the Ukraine conflict, and Gordon Sondland, the US ambassador to the European Union".

Trump says could 'certainly' ask China's Xi Jinping to investigate Biden
Biden Jr., in an extraordinary presidential request to a foreign country for help that could benefit him in the 2020 election. President Trump on Thursday publicly called on China to investigate a political rival, former Vice President Joseph R.

Senator Lindsey Graham, one of Mr Trump's most vocal backers, provided perhaps the strongest defence of the president.

Trump remained in the White House on Sunday and - despite the snowballing crisis - no administration officials appeared on the morning television programs. Trump wrote, continuing to paint himself as the victim of a "deep state" and hostile Democrats.

Trump has publicly called on Ukraine and China to investigate Biden, further fueling outrage after reports that he had private conversations with foreign leaders with similar requests.

There is no evidence that Biden or his son did anything wrong. Joe Biden is a leading candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. "I think you'd have to seriously question whether there was any veracity to that information or not".

Perry said it was important to make sure Ukraine was successfully combating corruption in order for him and the U.S.to find "energy experts" who could invest in Ukraine's oil and gas resources.

"The reporting that a second whistleblower has come forward or is about to come forward, I believe again would be someone who sees wrongdoing, hears wrongdoing and wants to do something about it", Demings said.

Democrats have called a number of US diplomats to Capitol Hill for closed-door testimony this week as they build their impeachment case against Trump, while the White House considers ways to slow down the process.

Asked if he doesn't take the president at his word, Blunt said, "The president was-no, the president loves to go out on the - on the White House driveway".

Himes appeared on CBS' "Face the Nation" while Graham spoke on Fox News Channel's "Sunday Morning Futures".
