Groom Sexually Assaulted Bridesmaid, Cops Say. His Bride Reportedly Still Married Him

A groom-to-be physically assaulted a "drunk" bridesmaid two days before his wedding, and the bride-to-be still married him despite witnessing the incident at a Pennsylvania venue.

A groom forced himself on one of his bride-to-be's bridesmaids at a celebration before the wedding and is now facing sexual assault charges, investigators say, WNEP reports. In the audio, he allegedly apologized multiple times, said it was his fault, and acknowledged taking her to the locker room.

That led to a fight between the bride-to-be and Carney. She was told that Carney was asked to help her into the hotel.

Police say it happened while the wedding party and friends were celebrating before the nuptials at a resort near Stroudsburg.

The bride walked in and a physical altercation started, police said.

Calls to phone numbers connected to Carney's wife were not returned.

All the plot by an interview with troopers, Carney first claimed he became under the impact of alcohol and "felt adore he became taken fair appropriate thing about by the victim" - and then changed his narrative to admit he'd grabbed her arm and pulled her into the locker room, law enforcement officials stated.

The Pennsylvania state police officer investigating the case reviewed that footage and said it showed Carney pulling the woman into the locker room, according to court documents. "I know this is bad as well but my dick was out in the shower".

Carney, meanwhile, allegedly told his guests the woman had "followed him" into the locker room after he told her he was going to shower. "Please tell me yes I'm begging you".

"The footage showed the victim and the accused walking down the hallway, with the victim extremely unsteady on her feet and swaying", state trooper Justin Leri wrote in a police report. Before reaching the doorway, Carney allegedly turns around and then pulls the victim into the locker room, according to the affidavit.

Nevertheless, Carney was charged with one felony count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with an unconscious person, one misdemeanor count of simple assault, and another misdemeanor for indecent assault without consent of other. An attorney for Carney did not respond to a request for comment.
