German Synagogue Shooting Was Livestreamed On Twitch

2 People Killed In Shooting In Eastern Germany; Synagogues Under Increased Security

A tweet from police advised local people to remain vigilant. Making things far worse, the shooting happened at three different locations on the Jewish religious festival of Yom Kippur, Judaism's holiest day of the year.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel attended an evening vigil at a historic synagogue in central Berlin in honor of the victims.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier met with community representatives at the synagogue Thursday.

Stephan B., who also shouted misogynist slogans, is said to have acted alone.

"We must all act against antisemitism in our country".

The identity of the German synagogue attacker may have sounded familiar to American Jews, who have endured multiple attacks by far-right extremists in recent years.

About 2,200 people watched a gunman's video of his attack outside a synagogue in Germany before it was removed from video-streaming site Twitch.

"We are shocked and saddened by the tragedy that took place in Germany today, and our deepest condolences go out to all those affected".

Twitch spokeswoman Brielle Villablanca told Reuters the platform had a "zero-tolerance policy against hateful conduct". "We worked with urgency to remove this content and will permanently suspend any accounts found to be posting or reposting content of this abhorrent act".

Halle police referred CNN to the federal prosecutor's office. "They got involved and they said even though this wasn't our problem we will contribute to the solution".

A witness interviewed on n-tv television said he had been in a kebab shop when a man with a helmet and a military jacket threw something that looked like a grenade, which bounced off the doorframe.

Shocking moment a large deer bursts through the window of a salon
The deer then pushes open the door with its head and makes it way back into the wild with a flat iron attached to its antler. The woman on the couch who was grazed by the deer was taken to the hospital with minor leg and neck pains.

Frustrated by his failure to break down the synagogue's door, the man had gone on a rampage in the surrounding streets, killing two people and severely injuring two others.

"The fact that, 75 years after the Holocaust, such groups are gaining influence in Germany speaks volumes", he said.

"I hid in the toilet", he said.

Privorozki said it took a little while for worshippers to understand what was going on.

René Friedrich, who has a bakery near the Synagogue, told the Tagesspiegel that he had been in his vehicle when he saw the perpetrator and his rifle. For whatever reason, the man with the gun was stalled or prohibited from entering the synagogue. But soon after, he again drove past the man in the army gear - this time driving a gray Volkswagen Golf.

"Police earlier said that several shots were fired and the suspected assailants then fled in a vehicle". They invoked Germany's historical responsibility from the Holocaust as they vowed better security and urged the nation to stand behind its Jews.

The rabbi noted that while police are stationed outside of every synagogue in Berlin, the state of Saxony did not mandate armed security for the Jewish holidays.

Following the incidents, a auto was later hijacked in the town of Queis, around 14 kilometers (8.6 miles) from Halle, according to authorities. Two people were also wounded by bullets and underwent surgery.

Holger Muench, the head of Germany's federal criminal police, the BKA, said earlier this year he had 41 far-right "potential terrorists" and 112 other extremists considered a "direct threat" on his watchlist.

The European Parliament held a moment of silence at the start of its session Wednesday to mark the unfolding situation in Halle.

The Halle town administration said one shooting occurred in front of the synagogue in the city center and its accompanying cemetery, while a second burst of gunfire targeted a kebab bistro. It said that the Halle shooting copy was taken down by a moderator after a viewer reported it through its flagging system.
