Jane Fonda Arrested In D.C. Civil Disobedience Climate Change Action

Jane Fonda arrested in climate change strike outside CapitolMore

Actress and activist Jane Fonda has been arrested in Washington D.C. during an oil protest.

According to Mike Valerio, a local White House reporter with CBS station WUSA who was on site, Fonda was planning to be arrested while protesting climate change political paralysis on Capitol Hill.

Assuming she's released in time, Fonda will host online teach-ins on Thursday evenings that will include lectures from climate scientists and discussions about how environmental concerns overlap with social issues, in addition to her Friday protests, which will start every week at 11 a.m.

And she credits the teenage climate activist with her new call to action in the nation's capital.

She moved to Washington DC to be greater involved in the fight against climate change, she said.

Eva Malecki, spokeswoman for the Capitol police, said: "Today, the United States Capitol Police arrested 16 individuals for unlawfully demonstrating on the East Front of the US Capitol".

"I realized that here is this young person who. she's not influenced by what other people think", Fonda said.

The functionality is mostly there, but some features are missing and there are complaints about the style of the resulting apps. Even if the laptop is offline and sleeping, it can send out Bluetooth signals that can be picked up by other Apple devices.

Initially, Fonda wanted to take a year off from Grace & Frankie in order to commit her time in D.C.to her climate change activism, but Netflix's chief content director, Ted Sarandos, couldn't work it out contractually, she told the L.A. Times.

Before Fonda was arrested, she delivered a short speech, during which she said that "we make personal choices like driving an electric vehicle or going vegan, recycling, and we think that that's enough. And that really hit me". "And when I read that it rocked me, because I knew that Greta had seen the truth".

"This is a collective crisis that demands collective action now", she said.

Fonda, forever known as "Hanoi Jane" to those who took offense to her stand against the Vietnam War, criticized Democrats for failing to advance the left's climate agenda.

This isn't the first time Fonda has been arrested, however.

"It's too late for moderation", she said.
